Electric power obtained by conventional methods requires a substantial amount of fossil fuels. Solar energy is comparatively a newer and multifaceted concept in energy acquisition. Solar energy is limitless and could be an uncomplicated, inexpensive, and beneficial method to save rapidly exhausting natural resources. It also offers an economical alternative to conventional lighting systems. Solar energy is stored by using solar panels. This is achieved by charging durable batteries and discharge of this electrical energy is controlled by sophisticated charge regulators, when batteries get fully charged. This makes possible solar outdoor lighting to work even on cloudy or rainy days. In fact, solar lights are able to last up to fifteen hours on a fully charged set of batteries.
Earlier solar outdoor lighting models were making use of incandescent bulbs that used to burn out faster without generating enough light. Recent models use LED (Light Emitting Diode) light bulbs, and nickel-cadmium batteries. An advantage of these batteries is that they utilize less electricity and last longer. Moreover, solar outdoor lighting is comparatively cheaper and maintenance free than conventional electricity system. In addition, solar lightings are self-programmed and work individually. If one stops working, other lights are not affected.
A common term for stroboscopic lamp and/or stroboscope, strobe lights refer to electronic flash lights that are used in studios. Apart from this, a strobe light is a blinking and short length bright light. Manufacturers offer a range of portable strobe lights other than fixed strobe lights. Individuals who need to create a brighter atmosphere when outdoors prefer them. Strobe lights are used effectively to increase lighting conditions in outdoor workplaces. This includes an array of job profiles such as construction sites, excavation sites, engineering and maritime bases, film shoots and other sites. They are also used at nightclub dance floors, theater backdrops and traffic zones.
Managers are aware of the need of efficient lighting in order to get a job done as per specifications. Since strobe lights are a bright source of illumination they provide optimum visibility, and this in turn enhances work efficiency as well as increases safety measures. Strobe lights are commonly used as warning lights. This is because when lit they are functional as intermittently flashing devices. They are mostly used for commercial lighting purposes rather than being used for personal reasons. Manufacturers offer strobe light ranges in joule measurements. They range between 10 and 200 joules and customers may choose as per their needs. A feature of strobe lights is that they flash at regular intervals, which are accurate to their last second.
The light bulb, invented in 1879, by Thomas Alva Edison, has a prominent place in our homes and lives. It is a simple machine that works on the principle of resistance. The light bulb is better known as the incandescent lamp for its illuminating properties. It makes use of a thin filament, usually made of tungsten. Tungsten is a natural element, known to have the highest degree of resistance. Electricity, when passed through the tungsten wire, heats it up and converts the electricity to light. Artificial light is provided by incandescent lamps, tube lights, candles, torches and solar lamps. Our planet’s natural source of light and energy is the sun. The most common source of artificial light is the light bulb.
Light bulbs are powered by electricity. There are variants of the light bulbs. One makes use of a battery to function. Most of these battery-operated bulbs are used as a backup light source when there are power failures. In case of floods, earthquakes, power grid failures and other natural catastrophes, communication lines and power supply gets affected. At these times, having an emergency light bulb comes handy. An emergency light bulb makes use of a battery, a light bulb, a trip switch, an on and off switch and a charging cord. When there is a power failure, the emergency light discontinues charging and comes on automatically. This makes it possible to illuminate the areas. Emergency light bulbs are found in homes, hospitals, schools, churches and other public places. They are easily available in many sizes, in accordance to the area that needs to be illuminated.
Pendant lighting is not seen as a genuine lighting alternative for many of us because we have been brainwashed into thinking there are the three basics: the lamp, the flush-mounted ceiling fixture, and when you want to get fancy–the chandelier. Most of us even think of wall sconces before the word pendant will ever come to mind.
The pendant is actually one of the most versatile of the light fixtures and can be used to provide the three main types of lighting: ambient, task, and even accent lighting. Unlike table, desk, or even floor lamps, the pendant light fixture is not limited in placement options. A table or desk lamp always needs some sort of furniture or desk to place them upon. Unless you want to place furniture in the middle of your room in order to set the lamp upon, table and desk lamps are not good sources of ambient lighting. Although great for task lighting such as reading, lamps–including floor models–are limited by their placement restrictions and in the types of lighting they are able to provide (great task lighting, poor ambient, no accent).
